About Christian J. Matozzo

Christian Matozzo is an attorney with the Orange County, California law firm Brown & Streza LLP. Christian’s practice is dedicated to serving religious nonprofit organizations and churches navigate the increasingly complex world of compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Christian is known for his approach that combines understanding of the inner workings of governmental entities with a knowledge of the vast array of federal, state, and local laws and exemptions crafted by legislatures to specifically benefit religious organizations. By informing religious organizations and churches of these laws and simultaneously assisting them in navigating governmental bureaucracy, Christian aims to give his clients the necessary peace of mind and freedom that organization leadership requires to focus on advancing the core mission of their organization.

Prior to joining Brown & Streza, Christian served a diverse client group in both litigation and transactional matters consisting of small businesses, non-profit social welfare organizations, local governmental entities, and individuals in a wide variety of practice areas. He frequently attended government meetings to make statements and was also routinely called to make news appearances on behalf of his clients as part of the approach to advocate for their causes.

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Christian received his law degree cum laude from Temple University in 2022. During law school, Christian served as an extern for the Pennsylvania Office of State Inspector General. Christian also received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Temple University. For his final year of law school, Christian was a Visiting Student at Notre Dame Law School. At Notre Dame Law School, Christian participated in the Religious Liberty Initiative’s Religious Organizations Lab, where he directly assisted religious organizations with forming new nonprofit corporations, receiving tax-exempt status from the IRS, and making benefit of specific exemptions for religious organizations. As a law student, Christian was also involved with the St. Thomas More Society, Jus Vitae, and the Intellectual Property Law Society. Prior to joining law school, Christian worked for a member of the Philadelphia City Council, where he helped draft legislation, served as the Councilwoman’s representative to the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment, and interfaced frequently with community organizations.

In his free time, Christian enjoys cooking Sunday dinners for his family.
