Alexander “Zan” Schindler is an attorney in the Tax, Trusts, and Estates Department of Brown & Streza LLP. His practice focuses on estate and tax planning for individuals, families, and business owners. He advises clients on income and estate tax strategies aimed to achieve client goals, while maximizing tax savings.
Zan earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon and graduated with his Juris Doctor with an Emphasis in Taxation from Chapman University's Fowler School of Law. While in law school, Zan was twice awarded the Tax Law Honors Scholarship and received CALI Excellence Awards for earning the highest marks in several courses. He also proudly served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Robert P. Applegate of the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles.
Prior to joining Brown & Streza, Zan represented both individuals and businesses in the United States Tax Court and before various taxing agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), the Employment Development Department (EDD), and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA).
Zan has been published in both California Lawyers Association California Tax Lawyer Magazine and California Lawyers Association Taxation Section Sacramento Delegation Paper.
Zan is admitted to practice law in California as a member of the California State Bar. He currently serves as the co-chair of the California Lawyers Association Young Tax Lawyers Orange County Chapter and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for a local nonprofit, Pure Game.
